Mildred J. Cooper, age 85, of Melbourne departed this life on February 28, 2010 at Calico Rock Hospital.
She was born September 21, 1924 to Corbett and Florence (Lawson) Williams at Possum Trot, Arkansas.
She spent most of her life as a housewife and working outside of the home for a short time at the White River Shirt Factory. Mildred enjoyed dancing and bingo at the Senior Center and loved being involved in all the activities at the Pioneer Nursing Home. She was a member of the Millcrest Church of Christ. Above all, Mildred was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and a dear friend to many. Her bright personality and sense of humor will be missed by all who loved her.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sheila Cooper of Melbourne; two daughters: Paula Cooper of Brockwell and Barbara Burge of Little Rock; six grandchildren: Duane Cooper, Terry Harris, Debra Jones, Kim Harris, Holly Ballard, Jennifer Weathersbee; six great-grandchildren: Gage Harris, Megan Jones, Kaylee Jones, William Vantine, Katie Vantine, and Cole Vantine; one sister, Annie Weaver of Violet Hill; three brothers: Howard Williams of Melbourne, Glen Williams also of Melbourne, Roy Williams of Wichita, Kansas; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Cooper, whom she married on June 14, 1942; one son, Ronnie Joe Cooper, a granddaughter, Christol Lynn Cooper; and three brothers: Monroe Williams, Otto Williams, and Leonard Williams.
Pallbearers will be Brad Cooper, Duane Cooper, Terry Harris, Tim Weaver, Chris Williams, and Jerry Williams.
Honorary pallbearers are Ralph Burge, Randy Cooper, Vernon Roddy, Doyle Weaver, Eric Weaver, Mike Weaver, Phillip Williams and Randy Williams
Funeral services were held at Roller-Crouch Chapel in Melbourne with Rick Burke officiating.
Burial was held at Lunenburg Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Melbourne.
