Wife of William Fortenberry.
Daughter of Andrew Jackson Ward and Elizabeth Corle. She was born as Sylvia Doris Ward but later was adopted by the Blackman family and became Hilda Blackman.

Hilda Fortenberry, 77, of Siloam Springs, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 1995, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Born May 24, 1918, in Benton County, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Jackson Ward and the adopted daughter of William and Minnie Smith Blackman. She was a lifetime member of DAV Auxiliary. She was affiliated with the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors are her husband, William Fortenberry of Siloam Springs; three sons, Harold Fortenberry of Gentry, Charles Fortenberry of West Fork and Jerry Fortenberry of Watts, Okla.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral will be at noon Wednesday at Wasson Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs with the Rev. Coy Scroggins officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Benton County.
