Capt. Frederick R. Dearborn was born in Saratoga, N.Y. Feb. 15, 1837 and died at his home in Gentry, Ark. Aug. 28, 1925, aged 88 years, 6 months, 13 days. He removed to Wisconsin where he enlisted at the beginning of war in Co. C, 7th Reg., Wis. Ironclad Brigade, serving as orderly sergeant and lieut. until Oct. 22, '64, when he was commissioned as Capt. of Co. D, 7th Reg., Wis. He married Miss Helen Strunk July 17, 1865 and to this union was born 6 children, 3 of whom, Jay, Elenor and Frank are deceased. He came to Arkansas in 1906 and resided 2 years on his farm northeast of town, since when he has lived in town. His wife having died 9 years ago, his daughter, Mrs. Elmer Barrett, came to take care of him and faithfully has completed her work. Friday night, Aug. 22, he was taken with an attack of heart failure and altho he appeared to recover, grew steadily worse until at 7 a.m. on the 28th he was not, for God had taken him. He leaves to mourn his departure 3 children: Mrs. Elmer Barrett, Geo. Dearborn, who came here from California on a visit a few days before his father's attack; and Chas. Dearborn of Arlington, Cal. Also 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. The funeral was held from the Congregational church Saturday, Aug. 29th, where a host of friends gathered and with floral offerings sought to show respect to one of whom no word of reproach could be uttered.
