Glen L. Oxford, 91, of Goshen died Dec. 5, 2006, at his home. He was born Jan. 20, 1915, in the Habberton community, one of two children of Clint and Ethel Oxford. A lifetime member of the Center Street Church of Christ in Fayetteville, he was an accomplished Bible scholar and served as elder of the congregation for 37 years.
After graduating from Huntsville High School, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1941, and attended radio school before being stationed in Grand Island, Neb. There, he met Helen M. Hinrichs, to whom he was married for 57 years. The couple returned to Arkansas in 1952 and purchased a farm near Oxford Bend, an area east of Fayetteville near the White River that was named for his great-grandfather who settled there in 1836. Working side-by-side, the couple built a sucessful dairy and poultry farm that was often recognized for the quality of its products.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Hinrichs, on Dec. 16, 2002.
Survivors include one daughter, Glenda Thomas of Fayetteville; two sons, Larry Oxford of Goshen and Randall Oxford of Dallas; three grandsons, John Paul Thomas of Fayetteville and Andrew Oxford and Jeremy Oxford of Goshen; and one great-granddaughter, Justice Knight of Huntsville.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8 at Center Street Church of Christ in Fayetteville with Jack English and Randall Castleman officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Dec. 7 at Beard's Funeral Chapel, 855 S. Happy Hollow Road, Fayetteville, online at www.beardsfuneralchapel.com.
Pallbearers will be Alan Cochran, Kenneth Crudup, Lonnie Farrar, Jerry Henson, Jerry Johnson and Wiley Vaughn, with Arthur Castleman serving as honorary pallbearer.
Burial will he in Son's Chapel Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Gambia Mission Children's Fund, P.O. Box 1022, Fayetteville, 72701.
The children extend special thanks to Roger Montgomery, M.D., for the extraordinary and compassionate care provided during the many years he served as the couple's primary physician.

FAYETTEVILLE — Helen M. Oxford, 84, of Goshen died Dec. 16, 2002, at Fayetteville City Hospital. She was born on Sept. 25. 1918, in Worms, Neb., one of four children of Christina and Herman F. Hinrichs. A longtime member of the Center Street Church of Christ in Fayetteville, she was known for hard work, home cooking and unconditional love of others — especially children.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Glen L. Oxford, a lifelong resident of the Habberton community. The couple met in Grand Island, Neb., where he was serving in the U.S. Air Force, and were married in Great Bend, Kan. They later moved to Arkansas and purchased a farm near Oxford Bend, an area east of Fayetteville near the White River that was named after his great-grandfather who settled there in 1836. Working side by side, the couple built a successful dairy and poultry farm that was consistently recognized for the quality of its products.
Survivors also include one daughter, Glenda Thomas of Fayetteville; two sons, Larry Oxford of Goshen and Randall Oxford of Dallas, Texas; three grandsons and one great-granddaughter. She is also survived by one sister, Evelyn Price of Ravenna, Neb., and was preceded in death by one son, Gary Oxford.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, at Center Street Church of Christ in Fayetteville with Randall Caselman of Bella Vista and Rob Hadley of Fayetteville officiating.
Pallbearers include Alan Cochran, Kenneth Crudup, Lonnie Farrar, Jerry Henson, Jerry Johnson and Wiley Vaughn, with Arthur Caselman as honorary pallbearer.
Burial will be in Son's Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements are by Beard's Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville.
