GARFIELD — Lonnie "L.J." Dart, Jr., age 84 of Garfield, passed away Friday, July 24, 2015, in Circle of Life at Legacy Village in Bentonville.

He was born April 7, 1931, in Garfield, the son of Lonnie Seth and Margaret (O'Neill) Dart. He was married to Winnie Persons, who passed away. He later married Mary Murphy, who also preceded him in death. In January 2007, he was united in marriage to Bobbie Easley, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Jean Jones of Benton City, Wash. and Debra Dart of Rogers; one brother, Gaylord Dart of Garfield; one sister, Rebecca Wilkerson of Pea Ridge; one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; five nieces; two nephews; his best friend and Air Force buddy, Dean Preston of Huntsville, Ala.; three step-children; five step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wives, Winnie and Mary; one son, Andy and one brother, Bernard.

L.J. grew up and received his education at Garfield, where he graduated from high school. He then entered the United States Air Force, serving from 1951 until 1955. He then worked as a mail carrier, from which he retired and was a farm and cattle buyer. For 29 years he owned and operated a service station in Gateway. He was a past bank director for Seligman Bank and Bank of Aurora for 27 years and was the Mayor of Gateway, Ark. He was a member of Garfield Church of Christ and a member of Gideons International.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2015, in Garfield Baptist Church, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, Mo. Reverend Bobby Vaughn and Reverend Russell Bishop will conduct the services. Burial with military honors will be in Liberty Cemetery, Garfield.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.

Mary Dart, 74, of Gateway passed away Oct. 9, 2006, at Circle of Life Hospice Home in Springdale.

She was born March 21, 1932, in Milford, Maine, to the late Andrew and Ellen Spencer Murphy.

She was a 1950 graduate of Old Town High School in Maine. She was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from October 1950 to August 1954. She served two years in Japan and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. After serving in the military, she attended Husson Business College in Bangor, Maine. She married Lonnie "L.J." Dart, on July 24, 1955, and moved to Gateway where they made their home. She worked as a postmaster in Gateway for 33 years and also worked at their service station in Gateway. She was a member of Garfield Church of Christ and the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a cattle farmer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters and one son, Lonnie Andrew "Andy" Dart.

She is survived by her husband, "L.J." Dart of the home; one daughter, Debra Dart of Fayetteville; two brothers, Frank Murphy and wife Jan of Fort Worth, Texas, and Lawrence Murphy and wife Edlona of Bangor, Maine. She is also survived by one granddaughter, Harriet Alexander and her mother Laura.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13 at Garfield Church of Christ with Pastor Bobby Vaughn and Pastor Gary Blackburn officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12 at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers, online at www.rollinsfuneral.com.

Pallbearers will be Deborah Dart, Linda Wood Green, Lisa Pitts, Laney Morriss, Deb Walter, Linda Almindinger, Cheryl Fraker, Teresa McKenzie, Kellie Rollins and Harriet Alexander.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice Home, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, 72762 or Gideon's International.

GATEWAY — Andy Dart, 38, of Gateway died Nov. 19, 2000, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born May 9, 1962, in Little Rock to L.J. and Mary Jane Murphy Dart. He was a life resident of Gateway and was a farmer. He enjoyed music and photography.

Survivors include his parents of the home; one sister, Deb Dart of Fayetteville.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers with the Rev. L.C. Barnett, the Rev. Benny Thompson and the Rev. Bobby Vaughn officiating.

Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 1034, Rogers, 72754-1034.
