FAYETTEVILLE — James Franklin Rogers, 74, of Fayetteville died Thursday, June 6, 2002, at his home.

He was born March 10, 1928, in Bentonville, the son of Ervy Rogers and Mary Jewell Stewart Rogers.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1946-1949, and attained the rank of staff sergeant. He graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1953. He retired from Liberty Mutual Insurance Co., where be was a claims manager.

He was a member of Sequoyah United Methodist Church and served on many committees. He was a historian, antique collector, gardener and an avid Razorback fan.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret Treffer Rogers; a son, Dr. Mike Rogers and wife Kathy of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Joyce Rogers Hultgren and husband Bob of San Antonio, Texas, and Julie Rogers Parker and husband Brett of Fayetteville; five grandchildren, Brian and Margaret Hultgren, Maeve and Caiflin Rogers and Jack Parker, a brother, Stewart Rogers of Benton.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at Sequoyah United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sara Bainbridge officiating.

Burial will be in Son's Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Moore's Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sequoyah United Methodist Church Children's Garden, 1910 Old Wire Road, Fayetteville, 72703.
