Sterling Byrd, 84, of Fayetteville, died Saturday at a Fayetteville hospital. Born April 12, 1900, at Goshen, the son of Henry and Mary Elizabeth Colwell Byrd, be was a lifetime resident of the area and a retired barber.

He was a member and past Master of the Fayetteville Masonic Lodge Number 740, past Master of the Springdale Masonic Lodge, member of the Consistory of Arkansas, past Grand Master of the International Order of Odd Fellows of the State of Arkansas and a member of the Fayetteville Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Lelia Huffmaster Byrd of the home; a daughter, Mrs Elizabeth Glasco of Dallas; a brother, Lloyd Byrd of Springdale and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Calvary Baptist Church with burial in the Goshen Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church of Fayetteville.

FAYETTEVILLE — Lelia Byrd, 92, of Fayetteville died Nov. 7, 2004, at Fayetteville Health and Rehabitation Center. She was born Jan. 2, 1912, in Elm Springs to Hal and Rette George Huffmaster. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sterling Byrd. She retired in 1995 from Matilda's after 40 years as a sales associate. She was a member of the Fayetteville chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a church organist at Calvary Baptist Church for more than 30 years.

Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth Byrd Glasco and husband Michael of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Virginia Farrell of Willow Springs, Ill.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville with Dr. Gene Fulcher officiating. Burial will be in Goslen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Moore's.
