LITTLE ROCK — Mark Reeves Cate, 61, of Little Rock, Ark., went to be with the Lord on Nov. 21, 2012. He was born May 4, 1951, in Lincoln, Ark., to the late Dr. N. Lee Cate and Sallye Bobbitt Cate.
He was a graduate of Hendrix College and received his Masters in Business at the University of Arkansas. He was a renown banker and well known in the financial community. He served on various civic boards, was a member and treasurer at Grace Lutheran Church. He was a Sunday school teacher for many years and was a devout Christian. He was the son of a Methodist minister. His passion was golf and his children. He was a friendly people person, was kind to all and a Southern gentleman, was loved by a great number of friends in Osceola, Dumas, Little Rock and throughout Arkansas. He loved history, discussing politics, sports and the Razorbacks.
Mark was invested with the ability to profoundly impact the lives in which he came across. Although his health began to fade in his later years, it was masked ever so well by his joyful demeanor. His love was boundless; boundless as the cherished memories held of him by his loving family and friends.
He is survived by daughter, C.C. Cate of Little Rock; son, Samuel Cate and wife, Yamaira of Little Rock; brother, Benton Cate and wife, Annelle of Fayetteville; former wife and best friend, Rebecca Catlett Cate of Little Rock; niece, Allyson Cate McNair; nephews, Brandon, Chad and Tyler Cate and their families.
A celebration of Mark's life will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Grace Lutheran Church, 5124 Hillcrest Street, Little Rock, Ark., with Reverend James C. Walter officiating. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church. Arrangements provided by Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas 72211 (501) 244-8300.
