ROGERS — James Edward Wright, 86, passed away on Oct. 31, 2015, at his home. He was born on Aug. 11, 1929, in Miami, Fla., to the late John W. and Sarah L. (Turner) Wright.
He was the loving husband of Elen (McConnell) Wright.
After being decorated for his service to the U.S. Army in Korea, he became a pilot for Delta Airlines for more than 32 years. He was also a part-time rancher who loved horses. His highest priorities were always in serving the Lord, his family, and those in need. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in a variety of leadership callings.
He is survived by his wife of Rogers; son, Jim Wright Jr. and wife Stephanie; daughters, Connie Anne DePew and husband Tom, Loree Sowell and husband Keith, Chrysti Rubisch and husband Steve, Ramona Henry and husband Gary, Elizabeth Hargiss and husband Mike; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Wright; 30 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 40 years, Jeannette Y. McClellan; and son, David 0. Wright.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville and again Friday from 8:45-9:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Dixieland Road in Rogers with the Funeral Service to follow at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Pratt Cemetery. Jeannette Yvonne McClellan Wright, 59, of Rogers died Feb. 19, 1995, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers. She was born Jan. 23, 1936, in Fruitland, Fla., the daughter of William Edison McClellan and Lillian Ricks McClellan.
She was a homemaker and an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Rogers. She moved to the Rogers area in March 1994 from Celina, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, William E. McClellan; and one grandchild.
Survivors include her husband, James E. Wright Sr., of Rogers; two sons, James E. Wright Jr. of Visalia, Calif, and David Oman Mark Wright of Zurich, Switzerland; five daughters, Connie Anne DePew of Paris, France, Jeannie Loraine Ruth Sowell of Sacramento, Calif., Christain Lorie Rubisch of Yuma, Ariz., Ramona Louise Henry and Elizabeth Ellen Hargiss of Rogers; two brothers, Robert McClellan and Raymond McClellan of Palatka, Fla.; two sisters, Nona Wright and Betty Lou Adams of Palatka; and 17 grandchildren.
Funeral services were Feb. 25 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Rogers with Bishop Jerry Abram. Interment was in the Pratt Cemetery north of Brightwater.
