David Henry “Dave” Ward, the Conway industrialist who built one of the largest bus manufacturing operations in the world from a small blacksmith shop, died yesterday of an apparent heart attack, in Dallas. Mr. Ward, 80, was the founder of Ward Industries Inc. (now American Transportation Corp.) and served as head of the company for over 30 years. He died while on vacation. Mr. Ward was active in civic organizations. He had been a member of the Conway Hospital Board of Directors, served on the Conway School District’s Board of Education and supported the Faulkner County Historical Society. The philosophy he followed was “Give me God’s blessings, health, friends and I will do the rest.” He was an active member of First Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include his wife, two sons, a daughter and 10 grandchildren
