Elizabeth Bailey Benton, 89, of Conway, passed away Monday, October 8, 2012. She was born November 21, 1922 in Augusta, AR, to the late Gov. Carl E. and Margaret Bristol Bailey. Elizabeth was also preceded in death by her husband, Sherbert C. Benton, brothers, Carl Jr., Frank, Eugene, and Alfred Bailey, and a grandson, Matthew Blake Benton.

Elizabeth was an Elder, Deacon, past President of the Presbyterian Women, and active in the Prayer Shawl Ministry at First Presbyterian Church in Conway. She was a former member of the Conway School Board, DAR, past President of The Conway Civic League, a member of 20th Century Club and a graduate of ASTC (UCA). Elizabeth was co-owner of Sherbert Benton Insurance and Real Estate Co. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Elizabeth was a woman of grace and dignity, and will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends.

She is survived by her son Mark Bailey Benton (Virginia), daughter, Sharon Benton Lessenberry, both of Conway, brother, Robert Bailey (Elsie) of Little Rock, grandchildren, Lee Lessenberry (J'Ann), Dr. Adam Benton (Heather), Brooklyn Jimenez (Jesse), great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Bailey, Hayden, Lauren, and Ryan Lessenberry, Analise and Emily Benton, and Bentley Jimenez.

Interment will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday October 10, 2012 at Oak Grove Cemetery, with a memorial service following at 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Conway with Jim Hays, CRE officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Dr. Adam Benton, Jesse Jimenez, Lee Lessenberry, Hayden Lessenberry, Ryan Lessenberry, and Ric Bailey.
