FAYETTEVILLE — Lucy Irene Hicks, 94, a resident of Fayetteville, passed away Feb. 16, 2012, at Willard Walker Hospice House in Fayetteville. She was born March 27, 1917, in Fayetteville, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Betty Drake Counts. She was a member of the senior basketball team.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford G. Hicks; one son, David Gerald Hicks, one brother, Doyle Counts; five sisters, Bessie Brooks, Gertie Paris, Jewel Martin, Bernice Marcum and Eda Lee VanHoose.
Survivors include one grandson, William M. Hicks; and one great-grandson, Alexander T. Wright.
Family will receive friends on Saturday from 3 to 4 p.m. prior to funeral. Funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb, 18, 2012, at 4 p.m. at the Luginbuel Chapel.
Internment will be in Buckner Cemetery in Fayetteville. Graveside services will not be held at the cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Prairie Grove, Ark. To sign the online guest book, visit www.luginbuel.com.
