Ruby Womack

Boyd Hancock was born June 14, 1919, son of Gaston and Emma Hancock. At the age of 16, he responded to the call of God and dedicated his life to the pursuit of God's perfect will in his life and ministry. He married Janice Stroman in 1939. Three children, Boyd Jr., Martha Jan and Cheryl, were born.

God has led through various paths as Boyd sought to walk with Him. He served 22 years as pastor to the Church of the Nazarene in Siloam Springs, Ark., Little Rock, Ark., Morrilton, Ark., Jonesboro, Ark., Forth Smith, Ark. and Blytheville, Ark. For 13 years God led him as District Superintendent of the North Arkansas District. During that time ten churches were organized, and there were increases in all departments. For the past 13 years his ministry has been expanded to include evangelism in churches all over the United States and the organization of a special ministry to the visually impaired as editor of The Holiness Evangel and through a specialized division within the Department of Communication in the Church of the Nazarene.

In I Chronicles 28:9 the words depict the life lived by Boyd Hancock. It reads "...acknowledge the God of your father, and serve with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you."

The life of wholehearted devotion to God has beautiful rewards. The lives of Boyd's family, friends and colleagues have been enriched by the touch of God in his life. L. E. Singer wrote the words through which we who are left can visualize the reward his is enjoying today.
"But just think of stepping on shore--
and finding it heaven!
Of touching a hand and find it God's!
Of breathing new air and finding it celestial!
Of waking up in glory and finding it home!"
