Michael Lee Dunaway, 59, golf's Long Ball Champion of Rogers, passed away Sept. 29, 2014.
He was born to Oscar Lee and Dorothy Mae Woods Dunaway Feb. 1, 1955, in Conway.

Following graduation, he began his college and illustrious professional golf career. Among his achievements, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by Long Drivers Association of America; creator of Golf's 350 Club; served as captain of Team USA vs. the World in Japan and won that title; chosen by Callaway over a robot to test their Big Bertha driver; twice featured on the cover of Golf magazine; he challenged $10,000 for anyone to beat his long drive; he was the creator of "Escape Force" for golfers and was the author of "Dunaway Long" to name only a few. He was active in his church and community, serving on the Rogers School Board. He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his mother of Rogers; a sister, Debbie (Bill) Moore of Georgia; four daughters, Ali (Gabe) Lewis of Fayetteville, Anna (Joel) Darling of Massachusetts, Lauren (Rhett) Lashlee of Alabama and Lindsey (David) Cash of Rogers; two nephews, Matthew Micheal Moore and W. Patrick Moore of Georgia; a niece, Kelley Ann (Matt) Spainhour of Washington, D.C.; and his beloved dog, "Sugar".

The visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Rogers.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. at the church on Friday, with interment at 3:30 p.m. within Oak Grove Cemetery in Conway.
