Donnie Higgins, resident of Searcy, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2008. He was 39 years of age.
Donnie was born January 19, 1969 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of Gene and Lois Higgins. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Donnie was the first paraplegic in Arkansas to become a certified EMT and worked for MEMS before moving to Searcy. He was currently employed by White County Cable in Searcy. Donnie was a current board member of New Hope Industries, a spokesman for the Arkansas Spinal Cord Commission, and a member of the Arkansas Rollin' Razorbacks.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Person Higgins of the home, his son, Tyler Higgins of the home; his parents, Gene and Lois Higgins of Conway; a brother, Rodney Higgins and wife, Michiyo of Atlanta, Georgia; a sister, Kimberly Searles and husband, Brian of Mesa, Arizona; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sherry and Leon Person of Searcy.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Tuesday at Powell Funeral Home in Searcy with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Conway, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Arkansas Rollin' Razorbacks, PO Box 1669, North Little Rock, AR. 72115.
