A Conway man was killed Thursday when a trailer came loose from a tractor-trailer rig on Interstate 40 in Pulaski County and a 1992 Chevrolet S-10 pickup slammed into it after the trailer stopped, state police said.

Jeffery W. McGrew, 33, a passenger in the pickup was killed in the crash. The driver, David Declue, 21, of Little Rock, and another passenger, Eddie Coleman, 24, of Menifee, were hurt in the accident, police said.

According to a Conway police report, Lance Stell of Conway said his pickup was taken without permission after he passed out at McGrew's residence. Stell reported that he, McGrew and a couple of other people had been drinking at McGrew's residence at the Brookside Mobile Village.

The crash occurred at about 11:45 p.m. south of the Faulkner County line.

Conway Officer James Abbey reported that a state trooper who worked the accident said the three men involved in the wreck were severely intoxicated.
