Ralph Oneal Weldon, 90, of El Dorado, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House.
Ralph was born November 5, 1919 in El Dorado to Young Eath Weldon and Annie Blanche Newsom Weldon. He was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II, serving in the Alaskan Theatre. He retired after 30 years service from Amoco Pipeline Company as a Right of Way Agent. Ralph was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Theatre Sunday School Class.He was a 32nd Degree Mason, Shriner and Past Master of Masonic Lodge 13. Ralph was very active in the Union County Genealogy Society where he served as President for many years.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, J. P. “Skeeter” Weldon .
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Violet Mae Murray Weldon; his children, Kay Weldon Ball of Pine Bluff, Philip Weldon of Houston, TX, Jim L. Wood and wife Angele of Baton Rouge, LA; a sister, Lanelle McFarland of Hot Springs; three granddaughters, Amy Carmouche and husband David of Baton Rouge, LA, Jennifer Adams & husband Troy of Plano, TX, & Rose Ann Weldon of Houston, TX; five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews & friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010 in Young’s Chapel with Dr. Lynn Worthen officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
