CAVE SPRINGS — Jerome "Jerry" Allen Watkins, 79, of Cave Springs, Ark., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, at the Circle of Life Hospice House in Springdale.

Jerry was born on Dec. 30, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Benjamin Edwards Watkins and Frances Maria Jones Watkins. Jerry worked at the Walmart, having retired in 1992. During his retirement, he was an avid gardener, enjoyed spending time with his family and volunteered at area schools, translating for Hispanic students. Jerry was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War, and was a member of the American Legion Post 174 in Cave Springs.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Edwina Watkins of the home; two sons, Mark Watkins of Clarksville, Ark., and Gregory Watkins of Siloam Springs; four daughters, Jerilynn Wright of Fairfax Station, Va., Ginny Watson of Broken Arrow, Okla,, Diane Watkins Burger of Bentonville and Therese Thompson of Cave Springs; one sister, Rosemary Belmonte of Woodstock, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice Watkins; and one sister, Frances Watkins.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Chapel in Springdale. The Rev. Glynn Trusty will officiate the service with burial being held at the Elm Springs Cemetery under the direction of the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Springdale. CAVE SPRINGS — Edwina Watkins, 85, of Cave Springs, Ark., passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at her home surrounded by her children. Edwina was born Aug. 4, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Raymond Carl Gerber and Anna Rose Sorg Gerber.

Edwina was a homemaker. She worked alongside her husband on their chicken farm in Cave Springs. Edwina taught Sunday School for many years, and was a member of Elm Springs Assembly of God Church. She sang in choir, helped with vacation Bible School, and loved ministering to elderly people.

Edwina was a special friend to several elderly ladies in the community. She visited, took food, and shared the love of Christ with many people.

Edwina is survived by two sons, Mark Watkins of Clarksville, Ark., and Gregory Watkins of Siloam Springs, Ark.; four daughters, Jerilynn Wright of Lebanon, Pa., Ginny Watson of Broken Arrow, Okla., Diane Morrison, of Bentonville, Ark., and Therese Thompson of Cave Springs, Ark.; one brother, Raymond Gerber of Timonium, Md., one sister-in-law, Rosemary Belmonte of Woodstock, Ill., 15 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Watkins, and one daughter, Janice Watkins.

Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016, at the Elm Springs Assembly of God church with Pastor Glynn Trusty to officiate the service. Graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. that day at the Elm Springs Cemetery.
