August 24, 1927 - December 20, 1969
James Ralph Tanner, 42, of Karachia, West Pakistan, formerly of El Dorado, died Saturday in Bangkok, Thailand, following a brief illness. He was born Aug. 24, 1927, in El Dorado and was the son of Arthur T. and Ruby Idell Combs Tanner. He was employed by the Esso Pakistan Fertilizer Co., in Karachia. He was a member of the Methodist faith and a veteran of World War II and of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Tanner is survived by his widow, Mrs. Johnnie Burgess Tanner, a son, Gary Tanner, and a daughter, Paula Tanner, all of West Pakistan; a brother, Donald W. Tanner, El Dorado, and his father, Arthur T. Tanner, El Dorado. Funeral services will be held at the Vantrease Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Noel Cross officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. The body will arrive in El Dorado Wednesday afternoon. The family will be at the Donald Tanner residence, 2207 Nevada St. (El Dorado Times - December 23, 1969)
