James Herbert "Herb" Witcher was born in Randolph County, Arkansas on August 9, 1907. He died April 18, 1979 at Community Methodist Hospital in Paragould. He married Sylvia Althea Rapert on May 17, 1930. He had two sons, Glenn Witcher and Joe Witcher, and two daughters, Joyce Farmer and Sharon Shear. At the time of his death he had 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Herb retired from Clay County Electric after 30 years of service. He was a member of House of Prayer and resided in Clay county all of his life. Funeral services were conducted on April 20, 1979 in Russell-Ermert Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by James A. Nochta. He was burried in Corning cemetery.

Sylvia Althea Witcher Poe was born on March 14, 1914 in Clay county, Arkansas to Ellis and Mae (Gambill) Rapert. She died on December 22, 1999 in White River Medical Center, Batesville, Arkansas. She marrier James Herbert Witcher on May 17, 1930. After the death of her husband she married E.W. Poe of Maynard, Arkansas where she resided for several years. She lived most of her life in Corning, Arkansas and was retired from Basler Electric in Corning. She had two sons, Glenn Witcher and Joe Witcher and two daughters, Joyce Farmer and Sharon Shear. She also had one brother, Johnny Weldon Rapert of Hope, Arkansas and one sister, Rita Jackson of St. Louis, Missouri. At the time of her death, she had 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. She was a member of Witts Chapel Baptist Church in Maynard. Funeral services were conducted on December 27, 1999 in Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with R.L. Hassel officiating. Burial was in Corning cemetery.
