JAMES LELAND HALL, 85, of Melbourne, FL died at the Sandpoint Assisted Living Facility. Dr Hall was involved in Christian ministry for over 65 years. He received his B.A and B.D. degrees from OBU, Master of Divinity and Th.M. degrees from Southern Seminary and his Doctorate of Ministries degree at Luther Rice Seminary, pastored churches in Arkansas, Texas, Kentucky, Oklahoma and Missouri and was pastor at the First Baptist Church of Melbourne from 1971-1986. Since 1986, he has served many churches in the role of interim pastor and has taught college level classes for SBU and Stetson University. Hall was active at all levels of the Southern Baptist Denomination and served as a member of the executive board of the Southern Baptist Convention. He was able to fulfill a Christian dream and vision when he helped establish WCIF Christian Radio FBC Melbourne. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Betty Cochran Hall (married 1946); children, Bette Lee (Charles) Moeller of St Louis, MO, Alma (Norm) Wakefield of Bulverde, TX, James (Dawn) of St Louis, Lydia (Gregory) Goode of Titusville, FL and Hal (Sharon) of Austin, TX; brothers, Andrew, David and Gayrie, 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Services will be at the First Baptist Church of Melbourne. Published in FLORIDA TODAY on August 15, 2009.
