Freeman Samons, 79, of Corning, Ark., died Sunday, May 21, 2000, at Clay County Healthcare in Corning.
Mr. Samons was born Dec. 9, 1920, at Supply, Ark., and was a lifetime resident of Clay County. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a farmer. He enjoyed St. Louis Cardinals baseball and hunting.
On Sept. 20, 1941, he married Ollidean Parker at Reyno, Ark. She died May 9, 1994.
Surviving are two sons, James Samons of Doniphan and Donnie Samons of Corning; two daughters, Linda Masterson and Shelia Price, both of Corning; two sisters, Ernestine Allen of Corning and Nina Patterson of Rockford, Ill.; three brothers, R.C. Samons of Hillsboro, Luther Samons of Malden and Jerry Samons of Corning; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at noon Tuesday at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Chapel in Neelyville. A funeral is scheduled at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at Corning Cemetery.
