Born August 24, 1935 to James and Margie Dabbs in Success, Arkansas.
Our Hero, Jim went home on Tuesday, July 16th, passing gently from this world in the arms of his loving wife, Ruth of 59 years at their home in Ft. Myers, FL... He leaves at home, Ruth and daughter Theresa, Grandson Jimmy and Granddaughter Shae, Grandson Tyler all of Lake of the Ozarks, Son Robbie and wife Brenda of Columbus, OH, Son Jerry and wife Kim of Kansas City, MO, Brother Don and wife Gay of Rockford, Ill., Brother-in-law Gerald Williams and wife Sharon of Corning, AR., and Sister-in-law Barbara & husband John Byers of Springhill, TN, and many nephews & neices, and other relatives and friends scattered over the country. Jim was predeceased by Son Jimmy of Lake of the Ozarks in 2009 and sister, Brenda Long of Corning, AR in 2008.
Jim accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at 16 years of age and through the ups and downs of life, never faltered in his Faith.
Jim and Ruth has lived in the Brookshire Bath & Tennis Club Community for the past thirteen years and was active in the subdivision until Jim's health began to fail. Our hero was a wonderful husband and father and owned businesses that having three sons was very helpful including a Mobil and Shell Service station, along with an Automotive Machine Shop. He also belonged to the Hoisting Engineers Union and helped build the existing Flood Wall surrounding St. Louis. He then bought a Marina at Lake of the Ozarks and moved his family there in 1968, and then on to Fort Myers in 1991 & worked as a Florida Licensed Private Investigator until retired. Needless to say, we have had a busy and interesting life, traveled the world and did it our way.
A Celebration of Jim's life Memorial Service will be held at the Brookshire Bath & Tennis Club, 6670 Clubhouse, 6670 Southwell Drive on August 3rd at 2:00 pm in Ft. Myers, FL.
Also, a Celebration of Jim's Life Memorial Service will be held in Corning, Arkansas on August 24th (Jim's 78th Birthday) at the home of Gerald and Sharon Williams, 503 Gregory Lane at 2:00 pm.
