Whitman W. Fowlkes, Sr., 70, of Searcy died Friday, September 28.
Born October 24, 1919, in Mt. Vernon, he was the son of Whitman and Ora Myatt Fowlkes. He was a retired mechanic, an Army veteran of World War II, a charter member of the Searcy Elks Lodge and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Fowlkes; one son, Whitman W. Fowlkes, Jr., of Mountain View; one daughter, Pam Brown of Warren; one brother, John Fowlkes of Mt. Vernon; seven sisters, Eloise Hearnsberger of Gladewater, Texas, Nina Kimzey, Ruth Fowlkes and Theo Trevena, all of Merced, California, Fran Hunter of Las Vegas, Erma King of Conway and Sybil Webb of Searcy; and four grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, September 29, at 2 p.m. at Roller-Daniel Chapel.
Burial will be in White County Memorial Gardens by Roller-Daniel Funeral Home.

Mildred Pauline Weatherford Fowlkes, age 97, died peacefully at her home October 7, 2022. She was the youngest child born to Rebecca Floy Aclin and William Otha Weatherford of El Paso, Arkansas.
In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Whitman W. Fowlkes; brothers, O.B. Weatherford and R.H. (Hugh Jack) Weatherford and sisters Merle Anderson, Marguerite Allen and Beatrice Adams. She is survived by a son, Whit (Nancy) Fowlkes of Mountain View and daughter, Pam (Hal) Brown of Hot Springs; four grandchildren, Tyler (Jennifer) Fowlkes of Mountain View, Anne (James) Nowlin of Memphis, Tennessee, Trey (Brittany) Brown of Rogers, and Leanne (Jordan) Anthony of Hot Springs, and eight great-grandchildren. She leaves behind a host of much loved nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pauline graduated from El Paso as valedictorian of her class. She worked many years at Magic Mart in Searcy. She was a wonderful cook, loved working in her yard, and quilting with her Church of Christ quilters. She was a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church in Searcy, then First Baptist Church in Mountain View. She was a member of the White County and Stone County Medical Center Hospital Auxiliaries. Some of her happiest years were spent attending basketball and football games with her family. Pauline had a notable sweet-tooth and loved a cup of hot coffee shared with friends or family. She trained her grandchildren to play a mean game of dominoes.
The family would like to thank Pauline's wonderful caregivers for their years of service. With their love and devotion, she was able to reside in her home until her death.
Graveside services will be conducted at Grissard Cemetery, El Paso, Arkansas, on October 11, 2022 at 3:00 PM. Memorials may be made to Grissard Cemetery, P.O. Box 93, El Paso, Arkansas or Stone County Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary, P.O. Box 1624, Mountain View, AR. 72560.
