Ray Swope, 81, of Elkins, died at his home. Born June 13, 1908, in Madison County, the son of M.F and Lula Harriett Kennan Swope, he was a member of Richland View Community Church, spent most of his life farming, and lived on Route 1 in Elkins for the past 76 years. He was the widower of Velma Lee Swope.

Survivors are two sons, Stanley Swope of Elkins and Loyd Swope of Lincoln; a brother, W.F. "Faral" Swope of Fayetteville, two grandsons and a granddaughter.

Funeral was today it Nelson's Funeral Home with burial in Goshen Cemetery.

Mrs. Lee Swope, 64, of Elkins died this morning in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 11, 1907 at Goshen, the daughter of Corley and Lilly Henderson Stringfield and was a member of the Richland View Community Church.

She is survived by her husband, Ray Swope of the home; two sons, Stanley of Tuttle community and Loyd of Dallas, Tex.; two brothers, Aud Stringfield of Springdale and Claude of Elkins; one sister, Miss Liza Stringfield of Elkins and three grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Nelson's Funeral Home with burial in Goshen Cemetery.
