Troy M. Jackson, 93, of Searcy, Arkansas, died in the White County Medical Center, Searcy, Arkansas on January 20, 2010.

He was born March 8, 1916 at Datto, Clay County, Arkansas to the late Elmer Jackson and Alice (Simmons) Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elgie M. Adams of Corning, Arkansas, his parents, three brothers, Albert, Delmer, and Elvin, two sisters Ellie and Estalee and one half-sister, Pearl.

He is survived by one sister, Stella (Jackson) Adams of Bakersfield, California, two daughters, Marian (Elbert) Johnson of Rapid City, South Dakota and Sue (Lew) Moore of Searcy, Arkansas, five grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.

Troy Jackson grew up in the Grassylead community near Datto and lived near Corning, Clay County, for most of his life. He farmed for about ten years and then worked for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service for 24 years. In addition, he and his wife, Elgie, owned and operated the gas station and store located at the Corning Y near Corning, Arkansas.
A veteran of World War II, he served as a member of the U. S. Army at Camp Fanin, Texas from 1941 to 1945.

He was actively involved with the Fourth and Vine Street Church of Christ in Corning, Arkansas. He served as an elder for 39 years, from 1953 to 1992. He was well known as a minister of the gospel and preached in many church of Christ congregations in the Clay County region. He was in great demand as a speaker for funerals and officiated at over 400 services in Clay County.

Troy relocated to Searcy, Arkansas about 11 years ago and resided at the Harding Place retirement home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 23, at Powell Funeral Home, Searcy. Visitation will be 6:00-7:00 p.m., Friday.

Graveside services and interment will be at the Corning Cemetery, Corning, Arkansas at 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Paragould Childrens' Home of Paragould, Arkansas. Arrangements by Powell Funeral Home. www.powellfuneralhome.net
