H.C. "Stub" Townsend, 78, died in Baptist Memorial Hospital (East), Memphis, Tennessee. He was the son of John and Gladys Valetta Hancock Townsend. A United States Navy veteran and a member of Corning Masonic Lodge, he was a farmer.

Survivors are his wife, Donna Townsend of the home, Corning; one son Mike Townsend, Success; one granddaughter, Sophia Beth Townsend, Success; two brothers, T.J. Townsend, Knobel and Ollie Townsend, Hereford, Arizona; two sisters, Diane Briney, Corning and Georgene Tierney, Indianapolis, Indiana.

Funeral services were conducted Friday morning, April 23, in Ermert Funeral Home chapel with Kenneth Winningham officiating. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital, Little Rock.
