Bernard Charles “Sonny” Ethridge, 74, of Conway, passed away Friday, May 29, 2009.

He was born June 16, 1934, in Mayflower to the late Bernard Ethridge and Daisy (Green) Ethridge of Morrilton.

He was preceded in death by his father and his wife Glenda Faye Ethridge.

Sonny graduated from Mayflower High School and earned his BS in Science from the Arkansas State Teacher’s College (now UCA).

He served in the Navy as a damage control diver, 3rd Class, and fireman on the U.SS Montrose APA-12 during the Korean Conflict, receiving two Bronze Stars. He was a member of the VFW Post 2259 in Conway.

Sonny worked in construction as a Master Carpenter and was a school teacher.

He is survived by on son, Nick Ethridge and wife Wanda of Conway; one daughter, Carol Ethridge of Conway; his mother; step children, Randy Crapps, Kevin Crapps, and Donna Albert; two sisters, Betty Elwanda Baker of Conway and Doris Deeter and husband A.M. Deeter of Dennard, AR; and one grandson, William Cedar Ethridge of Greenbrier.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 6, at 1:00 p.m. at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway.
