Erma Rhea Rush Lawrence, daughter of the late Coy Othel Rush and Odie Ethel Vest Rush, was born January 26, 1929 in Melbourne, Arkansas. She departed this life February 4, 2014 at her home in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 85 years and 9 days. She was united in marriage to Malcolm Glenn Lawrence on August 10, 1946 in Jumbo, Arkansas and to this union five children were born. She spent her life as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend. During her working years, she was employed with Boeing Aircraft, retiring after 28 years of employment. She was of the Baptist faith and a long time member of Belview Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law: Dwight and Toni Lawrence of Melbourne and Dwayne and Angie Lawrence of Mt. Pleasant; three daughters and three sons-in-law: Elaine and Lynn Wallis of Franklin, Rhonda Glenn and Rick Halbrook of Melbourne and Shelly and John Downing of Melbourne; three brothers: Boyce Mack Rush of Calico Rock, Doug Rush of Melbourne and Fred Rush of Sidney; four sisters: Virginia Mathis Barrow of Mesa, Washington, Glenda Fern Greenstreet of Melbourne, Catherine Sue Taylor of Franklin and Geneva Lyle of Benton; 13 grandchildren: Karen Wiles, Kendall Wallis, Tyler Wallis, Jason Lawrence, Jeremy Lawrence, Dana McDaniel, Lisa Cooper, Colin Lawrence, Conor Lawrence, Chloe Jon Lawrence, Clair Lawrence, Ashley Helm and Kevin Helm; 14 great grandchildren: Chase Wiles, Cara Wiles, Kennedy Wallis, Cole Wallis, Keegan Wallis, Gabriel Lawrence, Jenna Lawrence, Cade McDaniel, Abel Cooper, Kobe Bruyette, Riley Helm, Adia Lawrence, Ellie Rhea McDaniel and Austin Bell and a host of other relatives and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 51 years: Malcolm Lawrence; three brothers: Vernon Rush, Royce Gene Rush, and Ernest Rush and one sister: Ada Mag Rush.
Funeral service will be Friday, February 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Belview Baptist Church with Jess Sumrall officiating. Burial will be at Combs Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Visitation will be Thursday, February 6 from 6-8 p.m.
