Douglas Merritt Edkins

Douglas Merritt Edkins, age 46, of Yellville, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

Doug was born April 7, 1969 in Connersville, Indiana to the late Don and Zella M. (Jobe) Edkins. A 1987 graduate of Flippin High School, he was a member of Lighthouse for Jesus Tabernacle and had worked for Scotts Overhead Doors.

He is survived by his wife, Shelly, of the home; three daughters: Autumn Martin, and Summer Edkins, both of Yellville, Arkansas; and Veronica Edkins of Flippin;
two grandchildren: Kayelynn Grace Martin, and Haisley McGarrah; and two brothers: Mike Henry of Little Rock, Arkansas; and David Edkins of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation for Doug will be Saturday, January 16, 2016 from noon until 2:00 pm at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Burns Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Danny Spence officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Yellville.

Pallbearers will be David Edkins, Mike Henry, Bruce Banks, Quinn Lowery, Huey Grilliette, and Aaron McClean. Honorary pallbearers will be Alex Stoops, Cody Stoops, Ben Kerwood, Kevin Roods, Ron Banks, Bryan Myrick, and Brent Martin.

Memorials may be made in Doug’s memory to Pleasant Ridge Cemetery Fund.
