Elsie Mae Parnell McGowen Watley, daughter of the late Charlie Parnell and Lotttie Reeves Parnell, was born June 19, 1929 in Norfork, Arkansas. She departed this life July 10, 2012 in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 83 years and 21 days.
She was united in marriage to Roy Lee McGowen and to this union three children were born. After the death of Roy, she married Hubert Carl Watley. Elsie Mae spent her life as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend. During her working years, she was employed by Baxter Laboratory in Mountain Home, retiring after twenty years of employment. She loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by one son: Ronald McGowen of Norfork; one daughter and son-in-law: Oleta and Kent Martin of Calico Rock; one sister: Grace Weir of Mountain Home; seven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; one son: Charles Lee McGowen and two brothers: Willie Parnell and Richard Parnell.
Funeral service will be Monday, July 16 at 10:00 a.m. at Calico Rock Funeral Chapel with Donnie Speak and Ron Childers officiating. Burial will be at Galatia Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock. Visitation will be Sunday, July 15 from 6-8 p.m.
Pallbearers: Greg McGowen, Duncan McGowen, Brandon Martin, Blake Martin, Clayton Moore, and Kevin Weiroch.
