Loyd O'dell Brooks, of Sage, son of the late Charles Brooks and Josephine Jones Brooks, was born May 7, 1927 in Gid. He departed this life on May 29, 2010 in Melbourne at the age of 83 years and 22 days. He was united in marriage to Clyda Shaver on June 13, 1953 and to this union four children were born. Lloyd spent his life as a son, brother, husband, father, provider and musician. During his working years, he was employed at Quaker Oats in Rockford, Ill. Retiring after many years of employment. He was a member of the Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church.
Lloyd is survived by his wife of 56 years: Clyda Brooks of Sage; two sons and one daughter-in-law; Leon Brooks of Gid and Tim and Pam Brooks of Gid; two daughters; Patricia Brooks and fiancé Patrick Mabry of Salesville and Teresa and Ronnie Conyers of Melbourne; three brothers; Floyd Brooks of Peoria, Illinois, Ellis Brooks of Durand, Ill., and Dephia Brooks of West Plains, Mo.; two sisters Imogene Vanatta of Stella and Doris Jackson of Melbourne; eight grandchildren: Leonna McEntire of Jonesboro, Heather Busch of Salem, Brandon Rout of Jonesboro, Stephanie Edwards of Maumelle, Jeremy Coleman and Justin Coleman of Norfork, Brittany Brooks of Gid, Ronicia Smith of Melbourne and Ryan Conyers of Melbourne; thirteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; Ezra Brooks, Everett Brooks , Elgin Brooks, Esbie Brooks and one infant brother; one sister Iceaphine Shaver.
Funeral services was held Tuesday, June 1, at 10 a.m. at the New Bethel Baptist Church in Sage, Arkansas. Burial was at Reeves Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Visitation was Monday, May 31 from 6-8 p.m.
Pallbearers: Jeremy Coleman, Justin Coleman, Ryan Conyers, Heath McEntire, Daniel Busch and Brandon Rout.
Honorary Pallbearers: Ron Conyers, Eric Jackson, Charles Grisson, Jeff Eddy, Paul Gene Shaver.

Clyda Rhea Shaver Brooks, daughter of the late Clyde Shaver and Mellie Moser Shaver, was born July 15, 1938 in Gid, Arkansas. She departed this life April 4, 2016 in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 20 days. She was united in marriage to Clyda Rhea Shaver June 13, 1993*. Together they raised four children and one grandson. Clyda spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend.
During her working years, she was employed by White River Shirt Company, J. K Southerland and American Burger Center. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Sage Baptist Church.
She is survived by four children: Leon Brooks and Tim Brooks both of Gid, Patricia Brooks of Hot Springs and Teresa Conyers and husband Ronnie Conyers of Melbourne; one brother: Leroy Shaver of Kansas City, Kansas; three sisters: Vera Vickery and Elizabeth Ann Johnson both of Mount Pleasant and Betty Cook of Cushman; nine grandchildren: Leonna McEntire of Jonesboro, Heather Busch of Salem, Brandon Rout of Jonesboro, Stephanie Edwards of Maumelle, Jeremy Coleman of Melbourne, Justin Coleman of North Little Rock, Brittany Brooks of Gid, Ronicia Conyers of Melbourne and Ryan Conyers of Melbourne; 18 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and many good friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Loyd Brooks and one sister: Virginia Gaye Williams.
Funeral service will be Thursday, April 7 at 3:00 p.m. at Howard Memorial Funeral Chapel in Melbourne with Elvis Sneathern officiating.
Burial will be at Reeves Cemetery under the direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 6 from 6- 8 p.m
Pallbearers: Daniel Busch, Heath McEntire, Brandon Rout, Mason McEnitre, Justin Coleman, Ryan Conyers.
Honorary Pallbearers: Jeff Eddy and Jeremy Coleman.
