GENTRY - Elmer Dale McCown, 85, of Gentry, died Jan. 28, 2005, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born April 9, 1919, in Virginia, Neb., to George Washington McCown and Emma Pearl Hoover McCown. He married Mildred Hope Martin in Siloam Springs on Nov 17, 1945. A farmer, he served for 26 years in the Army during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion in Gentry. He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Colcord, Okla.

Survivors include his wife of the home: two sons, Dale Crawford McCown and wife Renee of Springdale, Matthew Shawn McCown of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; a brother, Robert Stanley McCown of Bartlesville, Okla.; four grandchildren two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, at the Wasson Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs with the Rev. Carl McReynolds officiating. Burial will follow at the Bloomfield Cemetery near Gentry.

GENTRY — Mildred Hope McCown, 87, of Gentry died April 15, 2007, at Washington Regional Medical Center, Fayetteville. She was born Aug. 21, 1919, in Gentry to George Washington Martin and Clara Beatrice Crawford Martin. She was a registered nurse and had lived in Levittown, Pa., for 20 years. She was a shipbuilder during World War II. She was a member of Colcord Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Dale McCown, on Jan. 28, 2005.

Survivors include two sons, Dale Crawford McCown and wife Renee of Springdale and Matthew Shawn McCown of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs, online at www.wassonfuneralhome.com. Carl McReynolds will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Colcord Missionary Baptist Church.
