Mrs. Jean McKeel passed away in her sleep in Rector on Wednesday, November 12, 2014. She was born in Denver, Colorado, on June 12, 1925, the daughter of Nellie and George Gustafson. Jean met her husband, Les McKeel, when he was stationed in Denver during World War II. They married in Denver in March of 1945.

After coming to Rector with Les, Jean became an active member of the Glaub Lone Holly H.D.C., and she was part of the Rector Women’s Club, serving as their treasurer for several years.

Mrs. McKeel is survived by her three children, daughter, Barbara McKeel of Manchester, Missouri; son, Bob McKeel (Dixie) of Jonesboro; and daughter, Sharon Casey (Gary) of Jonesboro. Her grandchildren, Brad McKeel (Trish), Brett Casey, Nicole Casey Weitkamp (Kevin) and Brock McKeel (Natalie); and six great grandchildren also survive Jean.

Mrs. McKeel was a longtime member of the 5th and Pine Church of Christ.

The funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, November 14th, at the 5th & Pine Church of Christ, Rector, with Tim Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Heights Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m., Friday, until service time at 5th & Pine Church of Christ.
