Edward Lee Guthrie, 70
A Gathering of Friends for Edward Lee Guthrie of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 5:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel.
Edward passed away February 20, 2016, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 70. He was born February 8, 1946, in Calico Rock, Arkansas, the son of Ernest and Gorgie Churchill Guthrie. He married Betty McWilliams on January 30, 1985, at Fort Smith, Arkansas. Edward retired from the U.S. Army after 28 years, serving both in Vietnam and Desert Storm. He was a member of the DAV, NRA, Arkansas Fish and Game and was a Mason. Edward enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
Edward is survived by his mother, Gorgie Louise Guthrie of Calico Rock, AR; wife, Betty Guthrie of Mountain Home, AR, son, Matthew Guthrie of Mountain Home, AR, daughter, Heather (Justin) Dearing of Harrison, AR, two grandchildren, Lauren and Hayden Dearing, brother, Ronnie (Betty) Guthrie of Calico Rock, AR, sister-in-law, Sharon Guthrie of Russellville, AR, and sister-in-law, Karen Stroud of Durham, NC; and numerous nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Lee Guthrie, two brothers, Doug and Randy Guthrie and two nephews, Jason and Jared Guthrie. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veteran's or the Diabetes Foundation.
