Cecil Whitfield Grimmett of Oxford, son of the late Charlie Monroe and Annie Martha Grimmett was born on March 3, 1913 in Oxford. He died on December 5, 2002 in Melbourne. He was 89 years old.

Mr Grimmett was united in marriage to Mildred Opal Stone at Wideman in 1932.

He was a lifelong resident of Oxford and spent his working years as a farmer and horse trader.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Kathryn Grimmett of Monitor, Washington; Jackie and Willine Grimmett of Oxford and Jimmy and Joe Grimmett of Sundance, Wyoming; eight grandchildren, Charles Grimmett, Patricia Knouf-Grimmett, Justin Grimmett, Stephanie Grimmett, Linda Mathany, Janice Mathany and Michael Mathany; eight great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two half-sisters, Edith Lackey and Emma Gillihan; three half-brothers, Solan Grimmett, Talmage Grimmett and Ray Grimmett and one daughter, Barbara Mathany.

Funeral services were held December 7, 2002 at the Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel in Melbourne. Pallbearers were Clifton Rush, Danny Rodman, Darrell Ball, Toby McCurley, James Wood and Harold Burgess.

Interment was at Oxford Cemetery under the direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.

Opal Grimmett age 79 of Oxford died June 14, 1994 at Ozarks Medical Center of West Plains. She was a retired employee of Baxter Lab in Mountain Home, a homemaker and a member of the Southern Baptist Church of Oxford.

She is survived by her husband, Cecil Grimmett; three sons, Bob Grimmett of Cashmere, Washington, Jackie Grimmett of Oxford and Jimmy Grimmett of Sundance, Wyoming; one daughter, Barbara Matheny of Sacramento, California; two sisters, Ruth Mitchell of Joplin, Missouri and Beatrice Sprinkle of Neosho, Missouri; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. Services were June 17, 1994 in Crouch Chapel with Reverend Duane Flood officiating. Burial was at Oxford Cemetery with arrangements by Crouch Funeral Home of Melbourne. Serving as pallbearers were Toby McCurley, Justin Grimmett, Darrell Ball, Waymon Rodman, Larry Owens and Ted Blevins.
