Corning Man Dies In Jump From M.P. Train
SOURCE Clay County Courier, (front page)

Donald Joe Herren, 24 years old, Corning, Ark., laborer, was killed when he apparently jumped from a train there early yesterday morning.
He had accompanied a party of friends to Poplar Bluff Monday evening but didn't return to Corning with them. He caught a ride on an early morning train and according to officers he was put off the train once by railroad officials. As the train passed through Corning he apparently attempted to hop off. His body was found yesterday morning by Olen Richardson as he reported to work at the Gulf Refining Company. The body was about 200 feet north of the Missouri Pacific depot.
He was born November 18, 1933 at Corning and had been a lifetime resident of the community.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Herren: four brothers, Rodger, Jackie, Charles and Johnny Herren, all at home; two sisters, Nancy and Brenda Herren, at home and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brooks.
The body was taken to the Russell-Ermert Funeral home and then removed to the home of the grandparents. Services are incomplete, pending the arrival of relatives.
