ALFONSO, Jane McKinney Oliver, 78, passed away peacefully at home with her loving daughters on April 6, 2010. She was born on June 13,1931 in Corning, AR to William and Augusta Oliver.

In 1951 she married James H. Archer and traveled around the world with him as an Army spouse, living in 8 different states and Europe. They had 4 daughters during their 23 year marriage and 8 grandchildren.

Her second marriage of 20 years to Albert F.Alfonso took place in Hawaii where Jane had a rewarding career as a nurse. Her favorite patients were new moms and babies.

While living in Hawaii she was diagnosed with cancer and moved to Montgomery, AL for treatment and to be closer to her children. She was blessed with 10 more years of good health and gave much back to the community. She enjoyed her family, her dachshund Dumplin, and her Sutton Place neighbors. Jane was an active member of Whitfield Methodist Church and was a Meals on Wheels volunteer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her sister Lillian (David) Burleson, her daughter Susan Downing and her granddaughter Carli Diaz.

She is survived by her brother William (Trudye) Oliver of Paragould, AR; her daughters Melissa (John) Van Valkenburghof Windermere, FL; Laura(Glenn) Saucer of Montgomery, AL; and Jane (David)Miller of Lompoc, CA and herson in law James Downing. Jane's grandchildren include Ben and Rachael Saucer, Mandy and Sarah Van Valkenburgh, and James, Matthew and Laura Miller.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial donations made to Whitfield Methodist Church, Meals on Wheels, Jackson Hospital, Vista Care Hospice, or an animal shelter of your choice.

A memorial will be planned at Whitfield Methodist Church in June when the family can gather to celebrate her life. White Chapel-Greenwood Directing
