James E. Rosamond, Corning, was the son of Enoch and Anice Rosamond. He died Thursday in VA Medical Center, Poplar Bluff. He was 79.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was retired Civil Service worker, serving as an Army Depot administrator, a member of First General Baptist Church and a member of VFW Post #6477 in Poplar Bluff.
March 27, 1976 he married Alvertine Rosamond and she survives.
Other survivors include six daughters, Ruth McNeely, Poplar Bluff, Sheila Meadows, Belleville, IL, Velma Phelan, Corning, Lisa Elrod, St. Louis, Rhonda Swander, Little Rock; two sons Randy Rosamond, Lawrenceville, GA, Ron Rosamond, Poplar Bluff; step-son Robert Johnson, Acworth, GA; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son Bryon Rosamond; wife Esther Rosamond and his parents.
Funeral services were conducted Mon. Jan. 26, 2009 in the chapel of Ermert Funeral Home.
