Robert Joseph Black December 30, 1948 - August 16, 2011
Mr. Robert Joseph Black, 62, of Corning, AR., passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Saint Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, AR. Mr. Black was born in Saint Louis, MO., on December 30, 1948. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working. He was a graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI., where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He also was a member of the 1970-71 Marquette Warriors Basketball Team, this team was coached by the legendary Al McQuire, they were Milwaukee Classic Champions, they were the winningest team in Marquette history having the forth longest winning streak in modern college basketball history. He was Vice-President of Black's Lumber Company in Corning and was a member of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Corning.
He married his wife Teresa Gail (Johnson) Black on February 23, 2004, she survives. Other survivors include one step-daughter Melanie Hinchey of Jonesboro, AR.; three brothers John Black and wife Fran of Corning, AR., Tom Black and wife Cantu of Las Vegas, NV., Jim Black and wife Robin of Collierville, TN.; two sisters Katherine Black of Lexington, KY., Elizabeth and husband Steve Sweet of New Orleans, LA.; three grandchildren Ella Hinchey, Dylan and Kyler Dulaney.
He was preceded in death by parents Charles R. Black, Sr. and Barbara Margaret (Steir) Black; two brothers William P. and Charles R. Black, III.
Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 10:00 AM in Saint Joeseph's Catholic Church in Corning with Deacon Rex Bouldin officiating. Burial to follow the services in the Corning Cemetery.
