Audrey Launita Estes Southard, daughter of the late John Matt Estes and Dora Agnos Hall Estes, was born January 17, 1920 near Ash Flat, Arkansas. She departed this life January 10, 2016 in Batesville, Arkansas at the age of 95 years, 11 months and 24 days. She grew up near Ash Flat, graduated from high school there and married Roby Southard from nearby Glencoe, Arkansas in 1940 and to this union four daughters were born. She spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend. She had many friends and enjoyed their companionship throughout her life. The nurturing love she lavished on her family and friends cannot be replaced. She was a Mary Kay Cosmetic Consultant for 40 years, up until the time she moved to Pioneer Therapy and Living Center. She was of the Church of Christ faith and a long time member of Melbourne Church of Christ. She lived her life as a strong example of Christianity.
She is survived by four daughters: Anita Southard of Little Rock, Emma Jean Cooper of Melbourne, Barbara Monroe (David) of Southhaven, Mississippi and Brenda Hargis (Bobby) of Heber Springs; one brother: Calvin Estes of Mountain Home; one sister Betty Benton of Glencoe; seven grandchildren: Jim Cooper, Robert Cooper, Joe Cooper all of Melbourne, Chris Monroe and Mike Monroe both of Southhaven , Mississippi; Laura Hargis Hayfield and Jamie Hargis Bell of Little Rock; fifteen great grandchildren: two step great grandchildren and a host of other relatives, many good friends and friends and staff at Pioneer Living and Therapy Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 49 years: Roby Southard; four sisters: Beulah Cotton, Zora Brown, Lillian Tucker, and Fern Brown.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Melbourne Church of Christ with Chuck Crow officiating. Burial will be at Melbourne Cemetery under the direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 12 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to : The Children’s Home, 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, AR 72450 or a charity of choice.
Pallbearers: Jim Cooper, Robert Cooper, Joe Cooper, Chris Monroe, Mike Monroe, Chris Mayfield and Eric Bell.
