GILLILAND, Josephine MANKINS - {part of this item is obscured by a fold in the paper} Mrs. Josephine Gilliland, wife of L.A. Gilliland, which occurred at 12:48 o'clock at their home in the McQuaid addition, was due to pneumonia. She had been sick only about a week. Funeral services were held at the residence Sunday afternoon at — o'clock, conducted by Rev. _ A. Smith, pastor of the First Baptist church, and the remains were interred in Bluff Cemetery. Mrs. Gilliland was a daughter of Peter Mankins and was reared near Sulphur City, in the south-_t part of the county and was a grand-daughter of the noted Uncle Pete Mankins who lived to be 106 years old. Mr. Gilliland is also a native of Washington county and they have spent most of their lives in this county. About three years ago they moved to Chekota, Creek Nation where they resided until a few weeks ago when they come to Springdale. Mrs. Gilliland was a half-sister of Mrs. Johnson Crawford of Prairie Grove. She had for a number of years been a member of the Baptist church. Deceased leaves a family consisting of husband and seven children, all girls, ranging in age from 16 to 2 years, and in their sad bereavement they have the sympathy of all.
