Leroy Wayne Dammann, 67, of Springfield, Ark., passed away on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012. He was born on Thursday, May 18, 1944, in Butterfield, Ark., to the late Leroy Charles and Mae (Hickman) Dammann.He was a very outdoors man, who loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed teaching his grandchildren about hunting and fishing. He served in the United States Navy for 20 years aboard the U.S.S. Essex, U.S.S. Sierra, U.S.S. Cascade, U.S.S. Mitchner, and the U.S.S. El Paso. After retiring from the military, he worked with Rossi Electric and Mallett Brothers. He was a member of Mallettown UMC and the VFW. He was the neighborhood handyman.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Dammann; and two sisters, Gertrude Rand and Inez Crawford.He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Loyd) Dammann; son, Anthony Dammann (Gina) of Springfield; daughters, Teresa Baker (James) and Brenda Wojtarowicz of Springfield; nine grandchildren, Mary Fowler (Mike), Joshua Baker, Brandon Baker (Krysten), Lindsey Baker, Matthew Farley, Heather Wojtarowicz, Sara Wojtarowicz, Jessica Dammann and Alexis Dammann of Springfield; four great-grandchildren, Jaidyn Fowler, Collin Farley, Jada Farley and Brooklyn Baker of Springfield; and sisters, Dorothy Key of Malvern, Marlin Lea Beachamp of Huntsville, Ark., Mary Sue Knorr of Sacramento, Calif., and Patsy Smith (Dave) of Conway.The family will hold a private service at a later date.
