RICKETTS, Laura E. - Died, June 16th, 1912 at her home near Bentonville, Ark., Mrs. Laura E. Ricketts, wife of J.M. Ricketts, in the thirty-sixth year of her age. Deceased was born in western Missouri November 27th, 1876. She moved with the family from Missouri to Arkansas - the father and mother having both died before. May 26th, 1895 she was married to J.M. Ricketts. To this union were born ten children, five sons and five daughters, all living, the two youngest twins, only a few weeks old. Her death was sudden and unexpected, there being no one present but the family. She was not a member of any church organization but we were informed by those who knew her best that she professed faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior, lived and practiced the christian life and principles. Although it was a gloomy day, rain falling at the time, the funeral service conducted by the writer at the grave, was attended by a goodly number of friends and neighbors. It was a pathetic scene indeed when the bereft father and eight of the children gathered at the casket to take the last look and bid farewell the one dearest to their hearts, the one of all others most needful for their happiness and well being, the one whose place can never be filled by another. The remains were laid to rest in the Hickman Cemetery. May the Lord bless, help and comfort the bereft husband and the dear heartbroken children. P. Carnahan.
