Services were held at 2:30 p.m. at the Olmstead Chapel for William Coy Davis of Quitman, who died Wednesday, April 20, 1983 at the Cleburne County Hospital at the age of 57.
The son of Martha Toten Davis Cupler and the late Oliver Davis, he was born Feb. 1, at Greers Ferry.
Mr. Davis was a native of Cleburne County and recently returned to Quitman where he has resided for the past 1 1/2 years. He was a cattleman. He had also served in the United States Army.
Mr. Davis was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs Margariet Grady Davis of Quitman; two sons, Michael R. Davis of Phoenix, Arizona and Tony O. Davis of Wheatland, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs Joan R. Selfer and Mrs. Jeannie G. Van Zandt, both of Wheatland, Calif.; his mother, Mrs. Martha Cupler of Wheatland, Calif.; four brothers, Buford Davis of Wheatland, Calif., Carl Cupler of Marysville, Calif.; Donald Cupler of Texas and Arthur O'Neal of Calif.; five sisters, Mrs. Lois Lane of Pittsburg, Calif., Mrs. Gladys Martin of Niles, Mich., Mrs. Beulah Mitchell of San Jose, Calif., Mrs. Eulah Ishmale of Yuba City, Calif., and Mrs. Geneva Drake of Elk Grove, Calif.; eight grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Lynn Bufford officiated at the final tribute.
Interment was in the Davis Special Cemetery by Olmstead Funeral Home Inc.
Pallbearers were Charles Pratt, Gary Barger, David Pankey, Floyd Davis, Jimmy Barger and Chester Barger.
