Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1 at the Holiday Hills United Methodist Church for Mrs. Effie C. Barnum Defoor of Higden who died Sunday, Feb. 26, 1989 at Lakeland Lodge Nursing Home in Heber Springs at the age of 97.
The daughter of the late Tommy L. and Rebecca (Hoggard) Turney, she was born Sept 13, 1891 at Higden.
Mrs Defoor had been a lifetime resident of the Edgemont Community. She was a homemaker; a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and at the time of her death she was a member of the Holiday Hills United Methodist Church.
She was the widow of J. E. Barnum and Oscar Defoor.
Survivors include two sons, Woodrow Barnum of Shirley and Wayne Barnum of Higden; seven grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildred; 17 great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Rev. John Robert Chapman officiated at the final tribute.
Interment was in the Davis Special Cemetery under the direction of Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
Pallbearers were Howard Lee Potter, Lloyd Hipp, J.D. Everett, Gene Bates, Burel Parish and Oscar Smith.
