Glenda Mary Ramsey, 88, of Melbourne, Arkansas, departed this life Saturday, March 12, 2016 at White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas, at the age of 88 years and 8 months.
She was born in Franklin, Arkansas, July 12, 1927, the daughter of Lee Majors and Cleffie Esterlee Williams-Majors. She was a retired employee of Baxter General Hospital, a genealogist, and a member of Melbourne Methodist Church. She was united in marriage to Richard Gale Ramsey on November 2, 1941, and to this union eight children were born. She also raised her sister, Betty Ann Majors-Shelton.
Survivors include three sons, Bob Ramsey (Penny) of Melbourne, Jim Ramsey of DeSoto, Kansas, and Dan Ramsey of Blue Springs, Missouri, five daughters, Carol Brownfield and Barbara (Jerry) Crosby of Melbourne, Liz (Gene) Neal of Salem, Diana (Mickey) Struckle and Cathy Kramer both of Melbourne; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, John Shelton of Horseshoe Bend, sister-in-law, Mary Byram-Majors of Blue Springs, Missouri, and many other relatives including nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gale; her parents; her stepmother, Sarah Shaw-Kersey-Majors; four brothers, Vince, R.G., J.C. and Willard Majors; three sisters, Johnnie Marney, Willi Mae Seaba, and Betty Ann Shelton; a daughter-in-law, Annette Neill-Ramsey; nine brothers-in-law; eight sisters-in-law; and a beloved grandson, Corey Wayne Hopper.
Pallbearers are Wayne Crosby, Donnie Crosby, Daniel Struckle, Devin Ramsey, Ben Brownfield, and Noah Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Rick Ramsey, Tim Schuh, James Ramsey, Cory Busby, Eric Busby, Frankie Boehm, and Will Boehm.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home in Melbourne with Steve Stevenson officiating. Burial will follow at the Old Philadelphia Cemetery at Larkin.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
