Mrs Ruth B Johnson, 69, of Shirley passed away Friday, Aug 20, 1971. She was the mother of Mrs. Hazel McFarland of Heber Springs, and Dale Johnson of Greers Ferry.
Mrs Johnson was a member of the Church of Christ. The mother of 12, children, she was known for her devothion to them and the rest of her family and for her effective guidance in their religious training and education.
Other survivors include her husband, James a Johnson; five other sons, Grover Johnson of Michigan, Jack Johnson of Florida, Bill Johnson of Illinois, and John and Bennie Johnson of Shirley; five other daughters, Mrs Hester Turney, Mrs Addie Mae Wood and Mrs Ruth New, all of Illinois, Mrs Maxine Cullum of Michigan and Mrs Sue Bailey of Shirley; 34 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday at Eglantine Church of Christ with Floyd Bond, minister, officiating.
Interment was at Davis Special Cemetery by Olmstead Funeral Service.
Pallbearers were James R Turney, Ray Johnson, Howell R Johnson, Marvin Gentry and Everett R Stevens.

Graveside services were held at 2 p m on Saturday, April 13 at the Davis Special Cemetery near Fairfield Bay for James Albert Johnson of Fairfield Bay, who died Thursday, Apr 11, 1985 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Little Rock at the age of 90.
The son of the late William and Elizabeth Scott Johnson, he was born on August 28, 1894 at Dennard, Ark.
Mr. Johnson had been a life time resident of Shirley area and was a veteran of World War I, having served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by a son, Grover Johnson on March 15, 1982 and his wife, Ruth Johnson on August 20, 1971.
Survivors include five sons, Bill Johnson of Choctaw, Jack Johnson of Ft Myers Fla., John Johnson of Shirley, Benny Johnson of Fairfield Bay and Dale Johnson of Greers Ferry; six daughters, Mrs Hazel Parker, Mrs Maxine Cullum and Mrs Sue Bailey, all of Fairfield Bay, Mrs Hester Turney and Mrs Addie Mae Wood, both of Pekin, Ill. and Mrs Ruth New of Green Valley, Ill.; one sister, Mrs Minnie Danks of Three Rivers, Mich.; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Military graveside rithes were held with military pallbearers.
Interment was in the Davis Special Cemetery by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
