Roy Lee Wood, age 73, of Shirley, Arkansas, passed away at his home on Thursday, April 14, 2005. Born in White County, Arkansas, on December 24, 1931, he was the son of the late James W. and Ethel (Smith) Wood. Mr. Wood was a retired inspector for Caterpillar Manufacturing. He served as a military policeman in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Wood was a member of the Maranatha Assembly of God Church in Shirley. He is survived by his wife, Addie Mae (Johnson) Wood of Shirley; three sons, Larry Duane Wood of Shirley, James Albert Wood of South Pekin, Illinois, and Jason Harold Wood of Columbia, South Carolina; two daughters, Deborah Lee Veach of South Pekin, Illinois, and Doris Jean Zimmerman of Germantown Hills, Illinois; one sister, Velma Rexine Pearce of Toledo, Oregon; one half brother, Charles Stark of Louisiana; one half sister, Mary Woodard of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Wood is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 16, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Olmstead Woodland Chapel in Edgemont. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 17, at 2:00 P.M. in the Maranatha Assembly of God Church with Rev. Lee Brown and Rev. Jim Wooley officiating. Interment will follow in the Davis Special Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Wood, Bryan Veach, Justin Veach, Adam Veach, Roger Thomas, and Eddie Hartsell. Honorary pallbearers will be Clayton Wood, Elmer Stewart, Joshua Wood, and Colby Wood. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
