John Lee Johnson, age 70, of Shirley, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at the Conway Regional Medical Center in Conway, Arkansas. Born in Shirley on June 21, 1936, he was the son of the late James Albert and Ruthie Bell (Babcock) Johnson.

A resident of Shirley for most of his life, Mr. Johnson was a farmer and employee of Arkansas Electric. He loved gardening and growing flowers. Mr. Johnson's religious belief was of the Pentecostal faith.

He was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Allen Johnson; one stepson, Leslie Johnson; one brother, Grover Tom Johnson; and one sister, Hester Turney.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Jane (Matts) Johnson of Shirley; three daughters, Tricia Diane Smith of Morrilton, Pam Davis of Mayflower, and Libby of Louisiana; three stepsons, Carlton Morris of Memphis, Tennessee, Bill Morris of Conway, and Joe Morris of Shirley; one stepdaughter, Linda Jones of Marshall; four brothers, Bill Johnson of Dennard, Jack Johnson and Bennie Johnson, both of Fairfield Bay, and Dale Johnson of Brownsville; five sisters, Hazel Parker of Shirley, Maxine Cullum, Addie Mae Woods, Norma Ruth New, and Linda Sue Bailey, all of Fairfield Bay; sixteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Johnson is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.
